How to Install McAfee VPN Client on Windows (McAfee Next Generation Firewall 5.9.0)

The McAfee Antivirus is a well-known brand for protecting your computer from potential malwares. The Next Generation Firewall 5.9.0 contains a McAfee VPN client. McAfee VPN is used by companies to provide a one-stop, reachable network for their resources, and to monitor their employees even in remote areas. It’s still widely used by small and large companies today, but they aren’t the only ones who benefit from everything that the McAfee VPN can provide, because regular internet users can avail of it, too.

More than connecting remote users to a single, reliable network, McAfee VPN also provides you security and complete anonymity while using the internet. Whenever you’re online, all your data goes through an encrypted tunnel which makes it impossible to read if it ever gets intercepted. It also provides you a different IP address, so tracking your computer would be a difficult task.

There are numerous VPN services out there with their unique features, and setting up has been made extremely simple. However, it’s always good to know how to choose a VPN and to understand how it works. In this article, we will discuss the step-by-step process on how to install the McAfee VPN client on Windows, as originally discussed in their digital user guide.

Certificate fingerprint — the first time the McAfee VPN Client connects to a gateway, the identity of the (gateway is verified to the McAfee VPN Client) with the certificate fingerprint; 2. User authentication — user identity is authenticated each time you connect to a gateway.

  1. After the installation, you cannot connect to gateways and endpoints until they are configured in the McAfee VPN Client. The administrator might have preconfigured the gateways for you so that you can connect to them by selecting them in a list. Alternatively, the administrator might have you manually connect3 with the gateway, either in a file or as an address that you can contact. If the McAfee VPN Client is configured to allow domain logon through the Windows logon screen, only gateways you have connected to at least once are available.
